Acu-Yoga is a system of exercises that integrates the principles of ancient traditional Chinese medicine, yoga therapy, and hatha yoga into a self-care formula anyone can use.

Acupressure is physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians. Pressure may be applied by hand, by elbow, or with various devices.  Traditional Chinese medical theory describes special acupoints, or acupressure points, that lie along meridians, or channels, in your body. These are the same energy meridians and acupoints as those targeted with acupuncture. Through these invisible channels flows vital energy -- or a life force called qi (ch'i).   12 major meridians connect specific organs or networks of organs, organizing a system of communication throughout your body. The meridians begin at your fingertips, connect to your brain, and then connect to an organ associated with a certain meridian.

Hatha Yoga & Pranayama

Today most people practicing yoga are engaged in the third limb, asana, which is a program of physical postures designed to purify the body and provide the physical strength and stamina required for long periods of meditation.
The word hatha means willful or forceful. Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body—especially the main channel, the spine—so that energy can flow freely.
Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.
Breathing - Pranayama is the most powerful tool for purifying and revitalizing the body
Taking deep long, breaths and pressing gently on an acupressure point you will close the nervous system's pain gates and help the area heal.  Yoga poses naturally stimulate specific meridians, which lead to healing. Once you learn which poses correlate to which acupressure points, you can press these areas while in the poses and experience the self healing power of Acu-Yoga.

Acupressure has many physcial health benefits ranging from  reduced generalized pain, relief of symptoms and reoccurance of arthritis, restoration of hormonal imbalances, allieviation of pre-menstrual and menstrual discomfort.

Acupressure also helps with emotional balance and spiritual transformation.  If you're experiencing worry and indecision and you know that worry is associated with the Gallbladder merdian, you can practice Parighasana, Gate Pose, to stimulate Gallbladder 26, 27, or 28 with the oppostite hand  to release tension along the middle of the merdian and in the side body.
